This video highlights why I think the freely available DimDim is one of the best and easiest to use video conferencing tools on the web. Use it to collaborate, demonstrate, or present to 20 viewers. It's all Flash based so it is platform-independent (Windows, Mac, Linux), no software to install, and free!

  1. Melinda,
DimDim looks great, a One Minute Video dose not do the application justice as with Jessica video One True Video. Thanks for the lead. Video is well produced, exciting and captivating. I want to know more!

  2. Melinda,

I have never heard of DimDim before. It seems easy enough to use. Do you think third graders would be able to use it? I've had this grand scheme of setting up a partner school somewhere else in the globe and having the students collaborate in various ways, in turn, learning how big the world is. I would like to write a grant for computers for both schools with video and audio. We would link up at a certain time during the week and work together on a project. They can have email or some kind of GoogleDoc share or something. It would be like pen pals for the 21st century. Students could use this program to talk with each other and create projects together. I hope its easy enough to use. I haven't given up on this idea (it's been about 5 years in the making) and the great thing is that affordable (or free) technology is finally catching up with me! Thank you for sharing this program to support my idea!

  3. DimDim is great if you just have one webcam on each side of the converation, because video support is limited due to bandwidth issues. I think your idea is a great one. Even if DimDim doesn't work, there are other tools like Skype, Elluminate!, and Vyew. Google them and see what you think.
